The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that the crime in Georgia has decreased in 2013 compared to the previous year. The ministry published the total number of recorded crimes from January to August 2013 which do not allow us to really understand crime trends in Georgia: Had it decreased in general, in urban areas, or in specific areas? What were the types of these crimes? Who was perpetrating these crimes? What age groups? Had a specific type of crime increased or decreased relative to previous years?
To answer these questions, JumpStart Georgia requested detailed crime statistics from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry of Internal Affairs replied to the request after 27 working days. The reply was incomplete and did not correspond to the request.
JumpStart Georgia requests that the Ministry of Internal Affairs publish the detailed crime statistics on their official website in electronic format (exl, csv, xml) so that the public might understand crime trends better in Georgia!
If you share our request, please sign the PETITION.
