How dependent is Georgia on Russia economically?  - In October 2015, the Georgian government started negotiations with Gazprom to create alternative ways to import gas, according to official sources. 
To see how dependent Georgia is on Russia economically, JumpStart researched and visualized various economic indicators.  - Over the last few years, more and more people believe that the Georgian economy is highly dependent on Russia. To find the truth, Georgia's economic data was analyzed allowing us to get a better view on the Georgia-Russia economic relations and dependency level.	

In 2006, Turkey replaced Russia as Georgia's largest source of imported goods. In 2007, Russia imports continued to fall resulting in Azerbaijan becoming the second highest importing country.  	
		
Azerbaijan has been Georgia's largest export destination since 2009. However, in recent years, the share of  exports to Azerbaijan has been decreasing. For the first time since 2006, after the introduction of an economic embargo, exports to Russia are increasing, but still only account for half of all exports to Azerbaijan.		

Foreign Direct Investment (or FDI) is an investment made by a company or entity based in one country, into a company or entity based in another country. Foreign direct investments differ substantially from indirect investments such as portfolio flows, wherein overseas institutions invest in equities listed on a nation's stock exchange. Entities making direct investments typically have a significant degree of influence and control over the company into which the investment is made.	
		
Since 2013, over 90% of Georgia's gas supply has come from Azerbaijan while Russia has been providing less than 10%.
